Additional speed ramp sought for housing estate in Portlaoise

The councillor said that an additional speed ramp is required in the Clonrooske View housing estate in Portlaoise.

STAFF from Laois County Council are to meet with cllr Barry Walsh to determine the location for the installation of a speed ramp at Clonrooske View in Portlaoise.

That was the reply to his request at the recent Portlaoise Municipal District Council meeting when he asked for the road safety measure to be installed in the housing estate.

He said that local residents who have children have expressed their concerns to him about vehicles speeding in the estate particularly at night.

Cllr Caroline Dwane Stanley said that along with local residents she had submitted a funding application under the Community Involvement Scheme (CIS) for next year which included such traffic safety measures as well as the resurfacing on the road and extra car parking spaces in the estate.

Cllr Walsh said that he was aware of the CIS application, “but the residents were looking for an additional speed ramp.”
