Confusion over identity of Laois man at Portlaoise court
The case was heard at Portlaoise District Court
THERE was some confusion over the identity of a local man who was brought before last week’s sitting of the district court in Portlaoise.
Justine Greene from 64 O’Moore Place, Portlaoise was brought before the court on foot of a bench warrant for his non-appearance at the Criminal Courts of Justice in Dublin on four separate occasions.
The court heard that while gardaí were dealing with Mr Greene, he said the warrants relate to his twin brother, who lives in Dublin, and that his twin brother gave Justine’s name and details to the gardaí.
Defending solicitor Josephine Fitzpatrick said that her 34-year-old client hasn’t been in trouble for a long number of years and it would be unjust if he was detained in custody to be brought before the court in Dublin Judge Cody remanded Mr Greene on his own bail of €100 and ordered that he attend at the Criminal Courts of Justice in Dublin to make his case on 11 December.
