A driver has been charged in relation to a crash during the St Patrick’s Day parade in Stradbally last March.

The 59-year-old appeared in court last week in connection with the collision between a car and a miniature steam engine pulling a small trailer.

Car driver Raymond Barrett of Luggacurran, Co Laois is charged with dangerous driving on Main Street, Stradbally on 17 March 2024.

He was brought before Portlaoise District Court on 2 September in connection with the road traffic incident.

Judge Andrew Cody remanded Mr Barrett on bail to the 17 October sitting of the district court, when it is expected that a date for hearing will be set unless a plea is entered.
