Laois motorcyclist with no insurance or licence put off roads for two years

Portlaoise District Court

A BIKER was disqualified from driving for driving without a licence or insurance.

Keith Lalor Fitzpatrick from Rushall, Mountrath had been due before the District Court in Portlaoise last week on summons of driving while uninsured and without a driving licence on 17 May at Clonreher, Portlaoise.

However, he was not present in court when his name was called.

Proceeding with the case Garda Roy Cooper said he stopped Mr Lalor Fitzpatrick and asked to see his licence and insurance.

The defendant had not got them on him and told the garda that he would produce them at the Garda Station in Mountrath, which Garda Cooper said he failed to do so.

He said the defendant had no previous convictions.

Judge Andrew Cody convicted Lalor Fitzpatrick for having no insurance, fined him €750 and disqualified him from driving for two years. For driving without a licence he was convicted, fined €25 and banned from driving for two years.
