Laois woman charged with possession of drugs

A 31-YEAR-OLD Mountmellick woman has been charged with possessing cannabis for her own use and for possessing cannabis for sale and/or for supply.

Amy Dempsey from Cullenwood, Mountmellick is charged with possessing €430 worth of cannabis at her home address on 4 November.

When her case was called at last week’s sitting of Portlaoise District Court, her solicitor Josphine Fitzpatrick said that her client was not present and asked that a bench warrant not be issued for her arrest.

Conceding to the solicitor’s request, Judge Peter White remanded Ms Dempsey in her absence on her on own bond to appear again in court on 19 January.
