Portlaoise Court: Man accused of performing sex act in front of a minor

A MAN who allegedly performed a sexual act in front of a minor under the age of 17 and was allegedly found in possession of child pornography appeared at an ‘in camera’ sitting of Portlaoise District Court last week.
Judge Andrew Cody ruled that reporting restrictions apply because the child in the case is known to the alleged accused.
The man is accused of the offences, which are alleged to have taken place on 19 November 2023 at an address in Laois.
Judge Cody remanded the 36-year-old man on his own bail of €500 to 14 April for service of a book of evidence.
He also set conditions on his bail that the accused resides at his own address, reports to his local garda station every Saturday, surrenders his passport and is available to take phone calls from the gardaí at all times.
