A WOMAN grabbed a mobile phone and threw it on the ground, when she realised another woman was filming her having a row with her ex-partner.
The incident was outlined at Portlaoise District Court, when Leanne Galvin, 6 Green View, Mountmellick Road, Portlaoise pleaded guilty to a charge of criminal damage. There was €200 worth of damage to the mobile phone.
Sgt Jason Hughes told the court that there was an argument between the defendant and another woman at Green View on 6 April last year. During the argument, Ms Galvin took a mobile phone out of the other woman’s hand and threw it on the ground.
The 32-year-old lone parent had previous convictions that included drug possession, with her most recent conviction dating back to 2018 for theft.
Defending solicitor Josephine Fitzpatrick explained that Ms Galvin got into an argument with her ex-partner, who was going out with the injured party at the time.
The solicitor said: “The injured party started to video the incident. She took exception to that, so she took the mobile phone and threw it on the ground.”
Judge Andrew Cody dealt with the case under the Probation Act, with no conviction recorded.
