A DISSAGREEMENT that started in a house and ended up on a public roadway landed a 52-year-old woman in court.

At Portlaoise District Court, Marian Gleeson, 49 Railway Mews, Portarlington pleaded guilty to being intoxicated in a public place and to engaging in threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour at Vignoles Gardens, Portarlington on 15 November last.

Defending solicitor Barry Fitzgerald said that his client was having a few drinks with her former partner at the time and an issue arose between them.

He said that Ms Gleeson rang the gardaí but “was riled up when they attended”.

“Alcohol doesn't seem to agree with this woman,” said Judge Susan Fay, who convicted Ms Gleeson of engaging in threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour and took the other offence into consideration.
