A 42-year-old man who used cannabis to relax was convicted of possessing drugs when he came before Portlaoise District Court.
Timothy O’Brien, 47 Heather Lane, Esker Hills, Portlaoise pleaded guilty to possessing €40 worth of cannabis on 22 April at his home.
Defending solicitor Barry Fitzgerald said: “He sometimes used cannabis to relax. But he’s on top of his habit now.”
Mr O’Brien was convicted of the offence and fined €150.
