A TIDY Towns group in a beautiful Laois village has described the huge amount of rubbish dumped on just one approach road as ‘disgraceful’.

A total of 13 large bags of litter was collected by five volunteers in Clonaslee on Saturday on the Tullamore Road alone, as part of Clean Up Laois Week.

Four full bags of rubbish had already been cleared earlier in the week, bringing the total collected on one road in one week to 17 bags.

Posting pictures on social media, the Clonaslee Tidy Towns committee said: ‘The amount of rubbish collected was disgraceful and we please ask everyone to bring home your rubbish and dispose it accordingly.’

The group thanked all the dedicated volunteers who worked all week litter picking, in line with towns and villages all over the county.

All bags will be collected tomorrow (Tuesday) morning, 8 April, inside the barrier at the Community Centre.
