A DRIVER caught behind the wheel of a car with a ‘Failed Dangerous’ NCT sticker on the windscreen was arrested by Laois gardaí.

The Volvo was seized in Portlaoise, after the uninsured motorist produced a fake driving licence.

Gardaí said yesterday that the car was pulled in following an automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) alert.

The motorist proved to be disqualified from driving and the road tax had expired more than two years ago.

Posting a photo from the scene on social media, gardaí commented: ‘When your Volvo has no insurance, tax that expired 819 days ago and a special souvenir sticker from the NCT centre that reads ‘Failed Dangerous’, the smart move would be to keep it off the road.

‘This driver instead took the classic ‘It'll be grand" approach … But of course it wasn't grand.’

In a post titled ‘Computer Says Tow!’, An Garda Síochána Laois Offaly said a quick check on the Garda Mobility App revealed that the culprit was disqualified from driving.

The driver was arrested and charged to appear in court, while both Volvo and fake driving licence were seized.
