Garden of reflection for those bereaved during the pandemic to open next year in Portlaoise

The garden of reflection will be located in the People’s Park in Portlaoise.
WORK will commence on the development of a garden of reflection for those who were bereaved during the pandemic at the pedestrian entrance to the People’s Park in Portlaoise before next March.
The council’s senior executive engineer Wes Wilkinson told councillors at the October Portlaoise Municipal District Council meeting that work on the boundary wall between the People’s Park and the adjoining property was recently completed and it is intended to commence the development of the garden of reflection in the Spring of next year.
Local councillors were informed of the plans when cllr Marie Tuohy sought an update of the planned garden at the recent meeting of Portlaoise Municipal District Council.
She also sought an update on the proposed dedicated dog park in the Triogue Linear Park.
Mr Wilkinson said the dog park would be completed this week.
