A SHOCKING incident occurred in Graiguecullen when three people forcibly entered a house in broad daylight and assaulted two occupants.
Video footage of the incident in Tommy Murphy Park has been circulating on social media showing that, at one point, a man strikes another man across the head with a hammer.
It happened at 10.50am on Friday morning, 17 January, when three people, two men and a woman, forcibly entered the house on the Laois/Carlow border by kicking in the front door.
The intruders were brandishing weapons and it’s understood that all parties were known to each other. The two occupants of the house received minor injuries as a result of the assault and were treated at the scene by paramedics.
Sergeant Conor Egan said: “People must have seen what happened, because it occurred close to 11am in a housing estate.
“No one was seriously injured, fortunately. It could have been a lot worse, given that there were weapons used.”
Carlow Detective Unit are investigating this incident and are appealing to anyone in the Tommy Murphy Park area, who may have witnessed this incident, to contact them confidentially on 059 9136620.
They are also appealing for anyone who may have CCTV, dashcam or doorbell footage to contact them.
