THE KILLABBAN branch of the Irish Countrywomen’s Association (ICA) recently launched a cookbook to raise funds for its 60th anniversary celebration in November.

Friends, family and supporters gathered on the 29 June in Killeen Hall to see the launch of the cookbook, which features recipes from Killabban ICA members.

Attendees at the event were treated to samples of the dishes featured in the book. “I think it’s fair to say no one went home hungry”, said Killabban ICA in a Facebook post.

Mary Dunne, president of Killabban ICA, elaborated on some of the dishes featured in the book: “[They’re] all general ones, from breakfast, dinner, tea, and soups”, she says.

Mary, who has been president of Killabban ICA since 2025, is the only member who has been with the branch since its foundation 60 years ago. She contributed her own recipes for a spaghetti bolognese and a cake.

“I enjoy organising things”, she says. “I enjoy working with people and helping the people.”

The book was developed to support the branch’s 60th anniversary, which will be marked by a dinner-dance on 20 November 2026. Crafts made by Killabban ICA will be displayed on the night.

There are approximately 300 copies of the cookbook for sale at €10 each. Those interested in purchasing the book can contact Killabban ICA at icakillabban@gmail.com
