TRACTORS of all shapes and colours roared up the impressive avenue that leads to Knockbeg College, when the school hosted its annual tractor run recently.
Knockbeg has a great tradition of organising its tractor run, when students from an agricultural background have a chance to show off their wonderful tractors.
This year, almost 30 students got the chance to drive to school before they assembled for some banter and plenty of photographs.
A total of 29 tractors from counties Laois, Carlow and Kildare converged on the scenic college grounds in support of Embrace Farm.
Embrace Farm provides a caring and supportive network for all those affected by farm accidents in Ireland. It supports families of those who have lost their lives or have been injured, while also helping survivors of farm accidents, Embrace Farm organises networking and fundraising events as well as growing awareness for the organisation within the agri-sector.
Apart from raising money through the tractor run, students also organised a non-uniform day and bucket collection to raise much-needed funds for the worthy cause.
Principal John Maye congratulated those who took part in the event, asserting that it maintained the strong connection the school has with both agriculture and charity work, a tradition that started almost 30 years ago.
He also thanked all those who kindly donated.
