Laois band to perform at major music festival in June

Laois band 'Alright Then' will be performing at the Night and Day Festival in June
LAOIS band ‘Alright Then’ has been added to the line-up of the Night and Day Festival in June.
The festival, from Friday to Sunday 27 to 29 June, will also see such acts as KT Tunstall, The Wailers, Kerbdog, The Stunning, Paul Brady, Sultans of Ping and Fionn Regan performing.
The Portarlington based band of Conor McLoughlin, Colm Geraghty and Cillian Deegan booked their spot on the festival line-up after they were the overall winners the Night and Day song contest.
In winning the competition and securing a place at the festival the band also were presented with a choice of recording their winning song 'If you are to lose' at either of the festival’s sponsoring studios Soundcaster Studios or at Paddy Jordan Recording.
Alright Then band members say their sound has a folk core, often engaging with moments of rock, indie and surf. By learning lessons from the likes of Kevin Morby, Big Thief and Courtney Barnett, they produce a warm sound.
Lyrically the band dwell on the moments in time where they have not been so present. The conversations where things weren’t said, and moments when actions should have been.
Creative Director of Night and Day Declan Hurley said: “We had a record number of entries in both competitions this year and as has frequently happened before, I expect the winners performances to be amongst the festival highlights at this year's festival.”
