Laois gardaí arrest banned driver on drugs

A MOTORIST who was stopped by Laois gardaí because of an obscured number plate ended up being arrested for drug driving, as well as driving while disqualified.
Gardaí stopped the Volkswagen jeep at a local checkpoint yesterday, as the front registration plate was obscured.
The plot thickened when gardaí noticed a strong smell of cannabis from the vehicle and carried out a roadside drug test.
The driver failed the test and he proved to be under a disqualification order. Cannabis was also found in the jeep.
The man was arrested at the scene and both the drugs and the vehicle were seized.
Posting photos (above) taken by the Laois Roads Policing unit, gardaí said on social media that court proceedings have commenced against the driver.
