Laois hair salon saved from closure

Society Salons Portarlington
A POPULAR Laois hair salon that was due to close down this Saturday has been saved at the 11th hour.
Society Salons in Portarlington will remain open under new management, after a group of staff joined forces to keep the business in operation.
While senior stylist Hayley Davies is departing to work nearer her new home in Co Kildare, most of the current team will remain at the busy salon on Main Street, Portarlington, including Emma Jane Murphy, Georgina Flynn and Casey Clarke.
The salon shared the good news in a Facebook post on Wednesday, saying: ‘Delighted to announce that, after a turbulent and eventful couple of weeks, Casey, Georgina and Emma will still be there to welcome all the salon’s clients, with some exciting changes to come. We wish Hayley all the best in her new venture and she will, of course, be greatly missed.’
Hayley shared that this Saturday will be her last day at Society Salons, before she starts work at Raven Hair Boutique in Clane on 23 April.
She said: ‘This has been a huge decision for me, as I have enjoyed looking after my amazing clients in Portarlington for the last 10 years, whom I will miss very much.
‘I’ve been so lucky to work with so many amazing people over the last 10 years. A big thank you to Ian Phelan for giving me so many wonderful opportunities, while I worked alongside you in the salon for the last decade. It has made me into the stylist I am today.’
Society Salon Portarlington had announced on 8 April that it would open for the last time on Saturday 19 April, due to staffing and other pressures.
Society Salons Ireland also has a busy outlet in Portlaoise, which has not been affected by the change of management in Portarlington.
