Laois houses prices are third-cheapest in Leinster

HOUSE prices in Laois are the third-cheapest in Leinster. That’s according to the latest end-of-year figures from Daft.ie.
However, the report found that, in Laois, prices in the final three months of 2024 were 11% higher than a year previously, compared with a rise of 2% during 2023. The average price of a home is now €258,000, 45% above the level seen at the start of the Covid pandemic.
House prices nationally rose by an average of 9% during 2024. The typical listed price nationwide in the final quarter of 2024 was €332,109, 1.4% higher than in the third quarter of the year and 30% higher than at the onset of the pandemic.
The report shows that a one-bedroom apartment in Laois is now selling for €133,000, up 6.2% on the same time last year. A two-bed terraced house is now fetching €145,000, up 13.2% compared with the last three months of 2023. A three-bed semi-detached home is costing €191,000, up 8%, while the cost of a four-bed bungalow is attracting €366,000. A five-bed detached house is averaging €385,000, an increase of 9.7% compared with 2023.
The number of secondhand homes available to buy nationwide on 1 December stood at fewer than 10,500, down 15% year-on-year and the lowest total ever recorded in a series extending back to January 2007.
