A MINI driver who was seven times the legal alcohol limit was arrested by Laois gardaí at the weekend.
The red Mini proved to be a red flag, when it was stopped at a garda checkpoint near Portlaoise on bank holiday Monday.
According to gardaí, a test showed that the motorist was seven times the alcohol limit and was already disqualified from driving at the time.
The driver was arrested and brought to a local garda station, while the Mini was seized and towed away from the scene.
Court proceedings have commenced against the motorist, for offences that include driving while intoxicated and driving while disqualified.
Posting an image from the scene on social media this morning, gardaí commented: ‘Lucky Number 7 – Not this time. Driver came back at 7 times over the alcohol limit AND was already disqualified from driving.
‘That ain't luck. That’s a bad punt. Mini Car. Major Problems.’
