Pedestrian in his 70s died following traffic incident in Stradbally

GARDAÍ are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision which occurred on the N80 at Crannagh, Stradbally last night, Sunday 23 February.

The collision involving a pedestrian and a car occurred at approximately 10.45pm.

The pedestrian who was aged in his 70s, was pronounced deceased a short time later and was removed to Midland Regional Hospital in Portlaoise.

A post-mortem examination will take place in due course.

The female driver of the car, aged in her 30s, was not injured.

The road is currently closed pending an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators this morning, Monday 24th February 2025.

Garda are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them.

Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling on the N80 at Crannagh, Stradbally between 10.30pm and 11pm yesterday 23 February, are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
