Planning permission granted for completion of Ballylinan housing estate

DE Bhal Construction Limited has been granted conditional planning permission to finish the construction of 30 unfinished houses at Rahin Towers estate, Ballylinan, an estate which had languished unfinished for decades.
The 30 residential units consist of 12 two-storey, four-bedroom, semi-detached houses (House Type A), six two-storey, three bedroom, semi-detached houses, six two-storey, two-bedroom houses, two two-storey, three-bedroom, semi-detached houses and four one-bedroom duplex units.
In a statement included with the planning application, the company highlighted how the new development would mark the long-awaited completion of the housing estate and will improve the existing estate.
They said: “This completes the final undeveloped parcel within the existing Rahin Towers estate and represents a significant upgrade to the public realm, including the removal of redundant hammerheads and the comprehensive relandscaping of open spaces to create a high-quality, integrated neighbourhood.” The plans drew ten submissions and sparked two requests for further information, but was ultimately approved by Laois Co Council subject to 19 conditions on August 25.
