A PORTLAOISE animal charity shop is running out of stock and urgently needs donations of items for sale.
The LSPCA shop on Hynd’s Square has issued an appeal for donations ranging from small homeware items to books, bric-a-brac, unwanted gifts and clothes in good condition.
At a time when many people are having an autumn clear-out, a volunteer said that stock is ‘quite low’ and donations would be appreciated.
In an appeal on social media on 9 September, LSPCA volunteers said: ‘We would be very grateful for donations of ladies’ clothes, shoes and handbags, gents’ clothes and shoes, small items of homeware (we don’t have much floor space), books, bric-a-brac, unwanted gifts and other items we can sell in our shop, to raise money for rescue animals.
‘They don’t have to be perfect, but we would appreciate if they were clean and undamaged. We really need your help so we can continue to raise funds.’
The shop just off Main Street is the main source of income for the Laois Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (LSPCA), a registered charity run by volunteers.
The shop opens from 10.30am until 4pm, Monday-Friday and from 12 noon to 4pm on Saturdays.
People making donations of saleable items can ask for a 15-minute parking permit for nearby Jessop Court in the shop, if needed.
