Portlaoise family heartbroken after child's death in collision

A PORTLAOISE family and community are devastated following the death of a little boy in a collision on Saturday.
Five-year-old Aaron Hussain suffered fatal injuries when he was struck by a car in Kilminchy at about 4.20pm.
A beloved son of Tauqir Hussain and Irina Novikova, he was a junior infants pupil at the Educate Together school in Portlaoise.
His parents are well known in the town’s business community, where his dad has a barber’s shop in Lyster Square and his mother runs the Lash Studio by Irina salon in Kea-Lew Business Park.
In a heartbroken post on social media this morning, his grieving mother Irina said: ‘With deep sorrow, we share the heartbreaking loss of our little son, Aaron. Due to this, all appointments are cancelled until further notice. Thank you for your understanding. Rest in peace our little angel.’
Family friend, businessman and former local election candidate Naeem Iqbal said on social media: ‘We are deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Aaron Hussain. May Allah (SWT) give patience and strength to his family during this difficult time.
‘Our heartfelt condolences go out to his loved ones, Father May Allah (SWT) shower him with mercy and grant his family peace and comfort.’
Forensic collision investigators attended the scene of the fatal incident this morning and gardaí are appealing for witnesses following the death of the little boy.
Gardaí and emergency services rushed to the scene of the collision but Aaron had suffered fatal injuries. He was removed to Midland Regional Hospital Portlaoise in a serious condition and was sadly pronounced dead a short time later.
The female driver of the car, aged in her 40s, was not injured.
The road at Lake Avenue remained closed overnight pending a technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators this morning, Sunday 23 February.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them.
Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in Kilminchy, Portlaoise between 4pm and 5pm on Saturday afternoon are asked to make this footage available to investigating gardaí.
