Portlaoise store to close its doors

The Elfie store in Portlaoise will close on 29 March
A PORTLAOISE store will close its doors this month, after nearly three years in business.
The Elfie shop on Lyster Lane will shut down at the end of March, following the owner’s difficult decision to move the business online.
Owner Marta Zymula said today that the closure will bring mixed feelings, as she cherished many happy moments with customers.
Since opening in the summer of 2022, the store sold a wide range of products from handmade gifts to cosmetics, jewellery and art pieces, particularly cosmetics from Marta’s native Poland.
She will continue to run the business online at elfie.ie, with no rent or expensive overheads, but the shop will close its doors for the last time on Saturday 29 March.
Announcing her plans on social media today, Marta said: ‘I’m coming to you with mixed feelings, because I have some news that brings a bit of gloom as well as excitement for the future.
‘With both joy and sadness, I announce that the Elfie shop in Portlaoise will be closing its physical doors, after over two years of unforgettable moments and wonderful encounters.
‘Thank you for every visit, every conversation, every smile, and even the little personal moments we have shared together. I will always cherish those warm days when you not only come to shop but also to say hello, chat, or simply wave at me with a smile.
‘It was something truly special, and it will always have a place in my heart. But you know what? Life is all about change, and I’m not afraid of it!’
Marta said that all products will be available online and her collaboration with local artists will continue.
She said: ‘I want to express just how much I value my collaboration with local artists. Their creativity, passion, and attention to every detail have been not just an inspiration to me but also a huge source of pride. Every product that made it to the store carries its own unique story, and each artist brought a piece of themselves into this space.
‘Thanks to them, I was able to offer something truly special, something with soul. What we’ve created together is not just products, but also relationships which we’ve built over the years. I’m deeply grateful to them for their talent, hard work, and for the opportunity to create something beautiful together.’
