PRINCE was right when he sang: ‘Sometimes it snows in April.'
Snow is falling in Laois today, just days before Easter Sunday.
The unusual transition from sunbathing to snow showers was captured in Wolfhill this morning by Cathal Nolan of Ireland’s Weather Channel.
The meteorologist posted an evocative picture (above) of a snow-covered patio and barbecue on the channel’s Facebook page this morning.
The snow-white surprise follows balmy temperatures since the month began, lulling sun worshippers into a false sense of security.
Instead, temperatures have plunged from 20 degrees last week to barely above zero in elevated areas of Laois today.
On the other side of the county, there are also reports of snowfall in the beautiful Slieve Bloom Mountains.
