Stradbally Hall seeking over €50,000 from Historic Structures Fund scheme

Stradbally Hall is seeking €55,815 from the Heritage Historic Structures Fund

STRADBALLY Hall is one of three applicants that have applied for funding totaling €455,815 for funding from the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage Historic Structures Fund that is administered by Laois County Council.

From the total funding applied for, Stradbally Hall is seeking €55,815, Donaghmore Workhouse and Museum €200,000 while Woodbrook House in Portarlington is seeking €200,000 from the fund.

The council’s Executive Officer Michael Rainey also told councillors at their February meeting that under the 2025 Built Heritage Investment Scheme a total of €185,000 has been granted to 13 projects around the county.

They are: Old National School, Vicarstown (€24,338). Timahoe Heritage Centre (€21,500), Buhala, Conoboro Road, Rathdowney (€20,000), Newtown Mill, Durrow (€20,000), Parochial House, Portarlington (€16,500), Oatlands House, Green Road, Ballyroan (€15,000), Mulberry Cottage, Killeshin Road (€15,000), Preston House, Abbeyleix (€10,000), Cuffsborough House, Clough, Ballacolla (€10,000), Main Street, Abbeyleix (€7,800), Saint Fintan’s Church, Durrow (€7,108), Thatched Cottage, Reary Beg, Rosenallis (€3,820).

Mr Rainey said that under the Historic Thatched Building Grant Scheme €10,379.87 has also been granted to the Thatched Cottage Reary Beg, Rosenallis.
