Teenage boy assaulted at Laois cemetery

AN assault on a teenage boy outside a village cemetery in Laois at the weekend is being investigated by gardaí.
The teenager was allegedly beaten up by three males on Sunday evening, in the vicinity of St Kieran’s Cemetery in Errill.
Aged in his mid-teens, the boy was taken to Portlaoise hospital for treatment for non-life threatening injuries following the incident, which happened between 7pm and 7.30pm.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information in relation to the assault, including drivers in the area at the relevant time who may have dashcam footage.
In a statement, they said: ‘Gardaí received a report of an alleged incident of assault that occurred in Erril, Co Laois, on the evening of Sunday January 12.
‘A male youth was conveyed to Midland Regional Hospital Portlaoise for treatment of injuries believed to be non-life-threatening at the time. Investigations are ongoing.’
