Theme revealed for Portlaoise St Patrick's Day parade

THE theme of the 2026 St Patrick’s Day Parade and Festival in Portlaoise has been revealed.

The committee announced this afternoon that ‘ABHAILE’ (HOMEWARD) is the theme of this year’s celebrations in the town on Tuesday 17 March.

In a post titled All Roads Lead Home, the group said on social media: ‘As the heart of County Laois, Portlaoise is a place where journeys begin, paths cross and people return.

‘Whether it’s the homecoming of our diaspora, the welcoming of new communities, or celebrating the bonds that make this town special — Abhaile is more than a word. It’s a feeling.’ 

The committee is inviting schools, sports clubs, businesses and community groups to ‘bring this powerful theme to life with creativity, colour and community spirit’.

They said: Let’s celebrate belonging. Let’s celebrate connection. Let’s celebrate home. See you all in Portlaoise!’
