More used to playing around with a big ball, many members and friends of Portlaoise Panthers Basketball Club turned out at Portlaoise Golf Club on Saturday to try their hand at the ‘small ball game’.

Many proved to be most proficient at golf although judging from photographs of some of them teeing off they appeared to be playing a new hybrid game that combined the best of golf and basketball.

By the end of the day it was a tired but happy bunch that retired to the golf club for refreshments and food which well deserved. Those who ventured on the day were blessed with one of the nicest days of this summer, although some did admit that the heat had taken it out of them – all the more reason to top up with fluids after the 18 holes.

The committee would like to thanks all their sponsors, without whom the event would not be possible.

And with the new season just around the corner all involved with the club are preparing to making this the best ever season for the club. With then dedication and determination the Panthers have always shown it is entirely possible this will happen.
