St Abban’s teams are among the medals

The Girls U/14 team who won Gold at the Leinster Cross Country Relays
WELL done to all the St Abban’s AC juveniles who travelled to Offaly on Saturday for the Leinster Juvenile Cross Country Relays. The club had five teams competing across all age groups with all securing team medals which was a fantastic achievement.
First up were the Girls U/12 who finished third. The team was made up of Amy Leonard, Meath Kearney, Penelope McMahon and Ava Brophy who all ran brilliantly to secure bronze medals.
The Boys U/12 were next up and came home in second place. The team of Sean O’Doherty, Tom Condron, Edward McDonald and Liam Doyle all contributed well to the team’s silver medals.
Both the Girls and Boys U/14 teams took team gold. The Girls team of Roisin Kearney, Abigail Daly, Sinead Fitzpatrick and Faye Brennan were brilliant in claiming gold. The Boys team of Cathal English, Harry Brennan, Shane Kelly and John Conway combined fantastically to claim their gold medals.
Finally, the Girls U/16, the final team out on the day topped the day off taking the silver team medals. Zoe Dunne, Katie Hartnett, Chelsey Dooley and Laura Ayers all ran well to secure 2nd place. Massive congrats to all on an excellent day out for the club.

National Indoor League Rd 1 Round 1 of the National Indoor League took place on Sunday 19 January, after the weather conditions had forced its postponement earlier in January. The club had both a Men’s and Ladies team in action in the National Indoor Arena in Abbottstown.
After the scores were tallied at the end of Day 1, the ladies team lie in 16th place while the Men’s team are placed 13th. Well done to all who took part, we look forward to making further progress on the Saturday 8 February for Round 2.
Leinster Masters CCC Well done to Claire Phelan and Francis Fleming who were both competing at the Leinster Masters Cross-Country Championships held in Kilcormac, Co. Offaly on Saturday. Both had excellent runs with Claire finishing 11th in the F40 and Francis 6th in the M65 age categories.
Club Indoor T&F In a busy weekend for the club, St Abban’s also hosted a club Indoor track and field championships in Nenagh on Saturday. The event allowed for athletes to prepare themselves for the upcoming Indoor Championships.
With the addition of some local clubs including Nuenna AC, Barrow Valley AC and Visually Impaired athletes, there was great competition across a wide variety of events. Many thanks to all who helped the programme run and to Nenagh Olympic for the use of their facilities.
