The Restaurant Association of Irelands Restaurant Awards, dubbed the Food Oscars, held their Leinster Regional Awards last night, Tuesday 11th, in Killashee Hotel, Naas, Co. Kildare.
The public had been invited to nominate Restaurants in one of 18 categories, with Treacy’s Pub & Restaurant, The Heath, being nominated in 10 categories. Last year’s Irish Restaurant Awards were the most popular yet, with the public submitting a record breaking 160,000+ nominations for Ireland’s best food-led hospitality businesses and the people behind them.
Niall Treacy, along with senior members of the team attended the ceremony and they did not come home empty handed, picking up 2 of the coveted awards;
Best Gastro Pub, which recognises the gastro pub that offers an innovative menu of food which suitably complements their drink selection. The Best Gastropub provides restaurant quality dining, whilst not compromising on the traditional ‘pub’ atmosphere.
Employee Excellence Award for barman Colm Dunne. This award recognises employees working within the hospitality industry who demonstrate remarkable on-the-job excellence in term of work quality, customer service skills, teamwork and innovation. A Portarlington man, Colm has been at the heart of Treacy’s for almost 30 years. Customers who have met Colm, be they locals, regulars, tourists or truck drivers, would attest to Colm’s exceptional skills in hospitality.
Owners Tom and Marie Treacy said “We couldn’t be more proud of all the hardworking team at Treacy’s. Winning Best Gastro Pub Award Leinster is an honour. We are absolutely delighted to see Colm get recognised at a regional level for his Excellence in customer service. We are proud and privileged to have him at the heart of Treacy’s pub.” Treacy’s now go forward for the All-Ireland Final Awards, on May 19th at the Clayton Hotel, Burlington Rd.
