A total of 509 admitted patients are waiting for beds this morning, according to Wednesday's Trolley Watch from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation (INMO).

368 patients are waiting in the emergency department, while 141 are in wards elsewhere in the hospital.

University Hospital Limerick is the worst affected hospital with 100 people on trollies, followed by University Hospital Galway, where there are 51 people without beds.

After that, Cork University Hospital and Tallaght University Hospital are the most overcrowded, with 42 and 37 people on trollies respectively.
