Two gardaí in hospital after processing seized vape products

Two gardaí have been taken to hospital after processing seized vape products.
The incident happened at Edenderry Garda Station on Wednesday, and the station is to remain closed on Thursday amid an investigation.
A Garda spokesperson said the two members were taken to hospital after becoming unwell while on duty.
“The members were involved in processing vape products seized from a commercial premises during an ongoing investigation,” they said.
“Both male members are currently in hospital under medical assessment.
“An Garda Síochána is providing welfare support to the hospitalised members and their families at this time.”
They added: “Edenderry Garda Station will remain closed pending further examination and specialist deep cleaning tomorrow, Thursday 23rd July 2026.
“Policing services in the area are being provided from Tullamore Garda Station.”
