A woman in her 50s has died in a crash in Co Cork.

The incident occurred on the R568 at Manch East, Ballineen at around 3pm on Sunday between a car and lorry.

The woman, who was driving the car, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her body has since been removed to Cork University Hospital where a postmortem will take place.

The driver of the lorry, a man in his 50s, was treated for minor injuries at the scene.

The road remains closed with local diversions in place as the scene is forensically examined.

Gardaí have appealed to anyone who may have been travelling on the R568 at Manch East, Ballineen, Co Cork between 2.30pm and 3pm on Sunday to come forward.

Those who were travelling in the area during that time and may have camera, dashcam or mobile phone footage have been asked to make their footage available to investigating gardaí.
