A Frayed Knot Celebrates Lions Club Partnership as Filming Concludes in Laois
A Frayed Knot
The Laois filmmakers behind the independent film A Frayed Knot are delighted to announce that filming on the project has officially wrapped.
This significant milestone for the production team coincides with a celebration of its partnership with the Lions Club. Special thanks are extended to the Club for supporting the film's vision from the outset, helping to bring the project from concept to reality while strengthening the community connections at its heart.
An official cheque presentation will take place at 7.30pm on Tuesday, 23 June, at the Midlands Park Hotel, marking another important moment in this partnership and celebrating the progress of the project.
Reflecting on the collaboration, producer and healthcare consultant Catriona Brennan Marshall said:
"The team behind A Frayed Knot is particularly proud to celebrate its collaboration with the Lions Club during its 50th anniversary year. This partnership reflects a shared commitment to community, compassion, and bringing important conversations to wider audiences."
The film was developed through a unique collaboration between Laois-based Advanced Nurse Practitioner Catriona Brennan Marshall and award-winning filmmaker Emmet Byrne. The independent creative project draws on real-world insights into frailty, future care planning and the difficult conversations that often accompany them.
Laois-based Palliative Care Consultant Dr Frances O'Mahony highlighted the value of the project:
"Some of the most important conversations in life are the hardest to start – conversations about dignity, dependence and dying. A Frayed Knot can be the key."
The completion of filming provides an opportunity to acknowledge the collaboration, support and local goodwill that have helped bring the film to this stage.
The production team also wishes to thank Creative Ireland Laois, Dunamaise Arts Centre, Flynn Medical and Laois Pharmacy for their support.
Writer and director Emmet Byrne welcomed the completion of filming, saying:
"A Frayed Knot is rooted in storytelling that matters. Reaching the end of principal photography represents both an ending and a beginning. Filming here in Laois has concluded, but the next stage of bringing the finished work to audiences has begun. The entire team looks forward to sharing more in the months ahead as the project moves into post-production."
