Arles ICA is offering a five week art class each Wednesday evening.

Indoor Mat Bowling

Has resumed in Killeen hall after the summer break every Tuesday at 7.30pm. All are welcome.

Community Café

The café in St Anne’s hall, Ballylinan has reopened after the summer break every Tuesday and Thursday from 10am to 12.30pm. Tea, coffee and freshly baked goods to enjoy and a chat and a laugh. Everyone is welcome.

Scoil Rince Elgar

Beginners Irish dance class in Arles hall every Monday 6pm. New dancers are welcome. For further information, contact Kayleigh on 085 8847098.

Irish dance classes in St Anne’s hall, Ballylinan every Monday and Wednesday at 5pm and in The Swan community centre every Thursday at 6pm. First class free to new boys and girls of all ages. For further information, contact 087 6176870.

Ballylinan whist

Takes place every Monday at 8.15pm in St Anne’s hall. Results from last week were ? top score was won by Phil Doyle, first lady was won by John Egan and second lady was won by Mick Nolan, first gent was won by Margaret Brennan and second gent was won by Seamus Hennessy. The halves were won by Frank Keenan and Tom Gowing. The winners of the draw were Anna Marie Farrell, Nora Fisher, Tom Fenlon, Billy Ranson (x2) and Mary Gowing.

Arles whist

Takes place in Arles hall every Thursday at 8.30pm.

Results from last week were ? top score was won by Denis Kealy, first lady was won by John Egan and second lady was won by Mary Warren, first gent was won by Willie Carroll and second gent was won by Liam McCartney. The halves were won by Anne O’Connor and Nora Fisher. The raffle winners were Bart Murphy, Padraig Dowling, Liam McCartney, Eugene Murphy and Willie Carroll.

Parish Office

The office is located in St Patrick’s old national school, Ballylinan and is open every Tuesday

and Friday from 10am to 1pm. All sorts of religious gifts can be purchased there.

Dog Walkers

The community in Ballylinan appeals to all dog walkers to clean up after your dog. For those who forget to bring dog bags, they can use the mutt bags (dog poo bags) available outside St Anne’s hall and outside the garda station and on the wall near gate at the old graveyard. There is no excuse to leave dog mess behind and expect someone else to clean up. Dog fouling is an offence. The litter hotline number is 1800 32 32 30.

Art Classes

Arles ICA will commence a five-week course of art classes in the second week in September on Wednesdays for two hours. Places are limited, so to book yours or for further information phone 087 1862435.

Ballylinan NS Fundraiser

The monies raised through the lotto will go directly towards improving school facilities and resources.

We hope that the weekly option of €2.50 for one line or €5 for three lines will allow everyone to contribute.

The jackpot stands at €875 and the winner of last week’s draw for €20 was Siobhan Lacey.

Ballylinan GAA Lotto

The jackpot was not won on 3 September and is €10,200 this week. The €20 prizes were won by Liam Kealy, Declan Keogh and Eimear Donohue. Tickets cost €2 each or three for €5 and are available from Murphy’s, Centra Ballylinan and Fleming’s, as well as a number of GAA members. Last week’s numbers were 4, 14, 34 and 36.
