Laois Domestic Abuse Service will mark International Women’s Day 2026 with a powerful two-week international poster exhibition at Portlaoise Library, using art, education and community engagement to highlight violence against women and promote the theme “Give to Gain” in the fight for gender equality.

 Laois Domestic Abuse Service (LDAS) will mark International Women’s Day (IWD) 2026 with a two-week public exhibition addressing violence against women, hosted at Portlaoise Library from Thursday 5 March to Wednesday 18 March 2026.

Presented in collaboration with artist Colm Dempsey and Laois County Council, the exhibition features Violence Against Women 365, an international poster exhibition that brings together striking visual works highlighting the realities, impact and persistence of violence against women across the globe IWD 2026 VAW International Post… .

The exhibition coincides with International Women’s Day 2026, which carries the global theme “Give to Gain”, emphasising the collective responsibility to share knowledge, support and action in order to achieve gender equality.

A formal launch event will take place on Wednesday 4 March at 2.00pm in Portlaoise Library. Members of the public, community organisations, professionals and elected representatives are invited to attend. Attendance at the launch is by RSVP only IWD 2026 VAW Launch Invite .

The exhibition is free and open to the public, with no booking required. It will run Monday to Saturday, 10.00am to 4.00pm, offering an accessible space for reflection, learning and conversation.

During the exhibition period, Laois Domestic Abuse Service will also be available to deliver talks, workshops and training sessions for community groups and organisations on domestic violence and coercive control. These sessions are offered in the spirit of “Give to Gain” — sharing vital information so that women and children experiencing abuse can gain access to the support they need IWD 2026 VAW International Post… .

LDAS encourages the wider community to engage with the exhibition and to mark International Women’s Day by standing in solidarity with women and girls, and by taking practical action to challenge gender-based violence.
