Clough-Ballacolla takes centre stage as the wallball season reaches an exciting conclusion

THE weekend sees the Wallball season draw to a close with the Wallball All-Ireland Championship finals taking place in Clough-Ballacolla on Sunday.
Having played as a brilliant host to Wallball Féile na nGael 2026 it now has the honour of being the first Laois club to ever host a senior handball All-Ireland final with both the Men’s and Women’s finals taking place at the venue. These finals will see the stars of Irish handball go face to face with handballing legend Martina McMahon (Limerick) facing the challenge of Roscommon superstar Fiona Tully in the opening Ladies Wallball All-Ireland semi-final which is then followed by Tyrone’s Eilise McCrory against Westmeath’s Aoife McCarthy in the other semi-final.
In the Men’s Wallball All-Ireland semi-finals, Ben Devlin (Cavan) and Fiachra O’Neill (Armagh) renew rivalries while Tyrone’s Sean Kerr and Cian Dunning (Cork) compete in the second semi-final.
Laois will also be hoping for success at these Wallball All-Ireland Championship finals, with Orla Brophy facing the winner of the Monaghan and Tipperary semi-final where Siobhan Prentice faces Niamh Mc Elwain in the Ladies Junior B.
In the Ladies Junior semi-finals, Aoife Brophy faces a formidable opponent in Roscommon’s Alanna Coggeran with the winner scheduled to face Tyrone’s rising star Clare Conway in the final. In the Men’s Golden Masters, Kevin Brennan will hope to replicate the form shown at the Irish Nationals when he plays Graham Casburn of Galway in his semi-final encounter. It would be fantastic for Laois handball to see some of our star players claim All-Ireland titles at a home venue.
