Timahoe 4-12

Ballyroan 2-5

TIMAHOE have made it two wins from two in the Ladies SFC after they comprehensively beat Ballyroan by 13 points in Timahoe on Monday night.

Not for the first time in her career, Mo Nerney was the star of the show as she finished with an incredible 2-6 in a brilliant display of finishing.

The win puts Timahoe firm favourites to top Group A and qualify for semi-finals, while Ballyroan are in a decent position for a quarter final place.

The home side came roaring out of the traps and kicked five points in a row in the opening ten minutes.

Orla Hennessy got the scoring going with a good point, Mo Nerney would then come to the fore shortly after and would hit three points in those ten minutes.

The other point would come from Niamh Dundon was pretty impressive too in the full forward line.

Ballyroan then settled into the contest and would kick the next three points to get them back in the contest. Faye McEvoy would grab a brace of points while Kate Whelan got a free in between the McEvoy's brace.

Timahoe then hit back with a point from Orla Hennessy, before the first goal of the game arrived for Timahoe.

Niamh Dundon was the scorer who powered through the Ballyroan defence and made no mistake in finding the net to give Timahoe a six-point lead.

As half time was approaching, there was still time for two more goals, first Rachel Fitzgearld found the net for Ballyroan with a tidy finish.

But Timahoe who struck back with in the final play of the half through Katie Donoghue to give Timahoe a 2-6 to 1-2 lead at the break.

Ballyroan would get a dream start to the second half by scoring their second goal through Aideen Gee and it was game on.

Again, Timahoe would have a response to the goal with points from Niamh Dundon and Nerney whose influence was starting to grow more and more in the contest.

Katie Whelan hit over a badly needed free for Ballyroan, but Timahoe would strike for their third goal through Nerney.

She had a close in free and caught the goalie and the defenders on the line on the hop and drilled the free into the back of the net to make Timahoe's lead comfortable.

The victors followed that up with a brilliant score from Sarah Quigley and Timahoe went up gears and headed for the finish line.

Katie Whelan hit over another point for Ballyroan in the 50th minute and it was to be their last score.

Substitute Keelin Moore, who was only just on the pitch, got in on the act with a fine score, but the final stages of the game were all about the excellence of Mo Nerney. She hit two stunning points from play as the Ballyroan defence had no answer to her brilliance.

She then rounded off a super individual display by finding the net for her second goal and Timahoe's fourth goals as they made it two wins from two.
