Judge tells Laois man seeking protection order against his son - 'I'm not Sr Consilio'
Portlaoise Courthouse
A PROTECTION Order was granted to a father against his son at the Family Law Court in Portlaoise.
The father came to court telling Judge Andrew Cody that his son was getting out of hand and that his behaviour was getting worse.
He said three people live in the family home âhis elderly mother, himself and his 30-year-old son.
He said the latest incident happened when his son, who was drunk, brought two of his friends’ home. He said he asked the two to leave and that his son caused such a racket that it set off the house alarm. He said he contacted the gardaí, who arrived on the scene to witness what was taking place.
He said that on a previous occasion his son kicked in two interior doors and broke them.
“It’s getting out of hand now,” the man said: “I want him to be in the house, but on strict conditions.” “I’m not Sr Consilio,” said the Judge.
‘‘What did the guards do when they came?” asked Judge Cody, to which he replied: “He was unco-operative. He didn’t do what the gardaí were telling him to do and that was to get out of the house.” “I’ll grant you the protection order,” said Judge Cody, “but it’s borderline,” adding: “We’ll see what he has to say when he comes to court (on foot of a safety summons) in January.” Funded by the Court Reporting Scheme.
