A Laois man was sent forward for trial to the upcoming sitting of Portlaoise Circuit Criminal Court on a charge of money laundering.

A book of evidence was served on Jack Tobin from 8 Buttercup Avenue, Esker Hills, Portlaoise by garda Lisa Murray at Portlaoise District Court last week.

Garda Sgt JJ Kirby said the 24-year-old is charged with laundering €14,118.62 on dates between 28 June and 4 July 2024.

Sending the accused forward for trial to the 17 February sitting of the circuit court, Judge Susan Fay advised Mr Tobin that he must notify the prosecution within 14 days if he intended to use an alibi in his defence.
