Laois man sent forward for trial on three charges

AT Portlaoise District Court last week, garda Lisa Murray served a book of evidence on John Egan (44) from Cushina, Portarlington, who was sent forward on three charges to the present sitting of Portlaoise Criminal Circuit Court.

Mr Egan is accused of burglary, criminal damage and of threatening to cause criminal damage at Vignoles Gardens, Portarlington on 22 April last year.

Judge Susan Fay gave the defendant an alibi warning, instructing him that he must notify gardaí in writing within 14 days if he wished to rely on an alibi in his defence.

At the request of defending solicitor Barry Fitzgerald, Judge Fay approved free legal aid and assigned one counsel to the case.
