Laois man spat blood and phlegm on walls of cell

A MAN who allegedly spat blood, phlegm and smeared bodily fluids on the walls and floor of a holding cell in a garda station was brought before last week’s sitting of Portlaoise District Court on foot of a bench warrant.

Vasek Stanisilv (35), Main Street, Portlaoise had been due before the court two weeks ago, but had failed to appear.

He was brought before last week’s sitting charged with being intoxicated and to engaging in threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour on James Fintan Lalor Avenue, Portlaoise, criminally damaging the cell door of Abbeyleix Garda Station by spitting blood and phlegm on it, as well as spraying and spreading blood and bodily fluids on the cell wall and stuffing a blanket into the cell urinal and urinating on it, all on 11 March.

Judge Andrew Cody remanded Mr Stanisilv on his own bail to the 9 April sitting of the court.
