Laois man stole chicken pieces from local butcher’s shop

A MAN who allegedly stole chicken pieces from a local butcher’s shop had his case adjourned when he appeared at Portlaoise District Court.

Jiri Cervenak (33), 397 Market Mews, Maryborough Village, Portlaoise is charged with the theft of €60 worth of chicken pieces from Feighery's Butchers, Unit 5, Kyle Centre, Portlaoise on 14 October.

Defence barrister Anne Doyle sought all the evidence gardaí have in the case and asked for it to be adjourned.

Judge Susan Fay adjourned the case to 16 February to allow Mr Cervenak to enter a guilty plea and set a provisional hearing date of 26 May in the event of a not guilty plea.
