Laois man urinated on garda’s uniform

A MOUNTMELLICK man who was allegedly found in possession of magic mushrooms and later allegedly urinated on a garda’s uniform was brought before a recent sitting of Portlaoise District Court.
It was also alleged that the defendant was twice found in possession of drugs at the Forest Fest music festival and urinated inside a garda van.
Eric Nicholson (29), Oak Drive, Ballacollig, Mountmellick was brought before the court charged with possessing Psilocin (magic mushrooms) and cocaine on the first occasion and with possessing cocaine and to engaging in threatening, abusive and insulting words and/or behaviour on the second occasion at Forest Fest on 26 July.
On the same date on Abbeyleix Road, Portlaoise, Mr Nicholson is charged with criminally damaging the inside of a garda van by urinating in it at a cost of €250 and with criminally damaging a garda uniform by urinating on it at a cost of €250.
Judge Andrew Cody remanded the accused on his own bail to the 5 October sitting of the court and for directions of the director of public prosecutions (DPP) on how the case should procced at district court or the higher circuit criminal court.
