Man appears in Portlaoise court on rape and indecent assault charges

A 56-YEAR-OLD man was before Portlaoise District Court last week charged with four counts of rape and two counts of indecent assaults.
The man, who cannot be named is alleged to have carried out the offences in Laois from September 1987 to September 1988.
Garda Lisa Murray served the accused with a book of evidence.
Judge Andrew Cody gave the defendant an alibi warning informing him that he must notify gardaí in writing within 14 days if he wished to rely on an alibi in his defence before sending him forward to the present sitting of the Criminal Court of Justice in Dublin.
