Man charged with Offaly robbery brought before Portlaoise court

A 37-year-old man was brought before today’s (23 October) sitting of Portlaoise District Court charged with robbery.
Philip Maguire from Saint Colombus Place, Tullamore was charged with the robbery of €530 in cash and with €192 worth of medical products from McCormack’s Pharmacy, Kilbeegan Bridge, Arden Road, Tullamore on 22 October.
The court heard that when the accused was charged and cautioned that he made no reply.
Anne Doyle BL said her client was making no application for bail at this stage and informed Judge Andrew Cody that Mr Maguire requires urgent medical attention.
Judge Cody remanded the accused in custody to appear again at Tullamore District Court via video link on 5 November.
