Motorist alleged to have been driving at 263kmp on Laois motorway has case adjourned

Portlaoise District Court

A MAN who is alleged to have been driving his car at a speed of 263kph on the motorway through Laois had his case adjourned at Portlaoise District Court last week.

Florian Sarges (27) from Drombeg, Glendore, Cork was before the court charged with dangerous driving on the M8 at Oldglass, Ballacolla on 12 October.

When informed of the speed the defendant was allegedly driving at, Judge Andrew Cody commented: “I’m afraid to ask what speed zone he was driving in?” He went on to adjourn the case to 11 December to allow the defendant to enter a plea and set 12 February as a preliminary hearing date in the event of a not guilty plea.
