Portlaoise court hears victim of alleged assault still in coma
Portlaoise Courthouse
DISTRICT Court Judge Andrew Cody was informed that week that the victim of an alleged assault is still in a coma.
The matter was raised when Garda Sergeant Jason Huges applied to the court to extend time for him to take directions from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) on how the case should proceed.
Before the court was Ian Barnes from 75 Wilderness Grove, Clonmel, Tipperary who is charged with assault causing harm at Main Street, Portarlington on 7 June this year.
Mr Barnes had been granted bail at the previous sitting of the case to an address at 785 Charlestown Place, Finglas, Dublin.
Sgt Huges informed Judge Cody that the alleged injured party was still in a coma, following the alleged assault.
Judge Cody remanded Mr Barnes on continuing bail to the 12 October sitting of the court and for DPP directions.
